Personal Experience & Biography

Melissa Banon, AMFT

I believe that healing begins with feeling heard and understood. My approach to therapy is warm, compassionate, and collaborative, creating a space to slow down, explore your experiences, and recognize patterns that may be keeping you stuck.

My work integrates evidence-based therapeutic approaches with psychodynamic insight, somatic awareness, mindfulness, and relational healing. I help clients develop a deeper understanding of their thoughts, feelings, and internal experiences, including how stress and emotions can show up in the body. Alongside this awareness, I offer practical tools to support self-regulation, build resilience, and navigate life’s challenges with greater intention.

I work with children, adolescents, adults, and couples experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and relationship challenges. My training in DIR/Floortime therapy further informs my work with children, with an emphasis on emotional development, communication, and social-emotional growth.

I received my master’s degree in clinical psychology from Antioch University and completed my clinical training at Beit T’Shuvah, an addiction treatment center. This experience provided a strong foundation in addiction and recovery while deepening my understanding of attachment, relationships, and the patterns that can influence behavior.

Therapy should be a space where you feel genuinely seen, supported, and comfortable being your authentic self. Together, we can explore what may be getting in the way, develop greater awareness and flexibility, and create meaningful, lasting change that feels right for you.
